Printing in DTP

Printing is important to desktop publishing. Inkjet and Laser are most common types of printer used in desktop publishing.

The various method used are

1.       Flexography, used for printing on plastic, foil, acetate film, brown paper and other similar material.

2.       Grave Printing, used for labels and packages. Can also be used to printing magazines, greeting card etc.

3.       Engraving, used for wedding invitations and sometimes business cards and letter effects with raised effect.

4.       Theromography, similar to engraving but less expensive.

5.       Letterpress is the oldest form in which printing ink is applied to raise portion of metal which is then pressed on paper.

6.       Screen-printing, used for products such as CDs, posters, signs etc.
