CorelDRAW - Basics




STARTING COREL DRAW

i.      Click on Start button

ii.    Click at Programs

iii.   Now, click Corel Draw X option. A Corel Draw window appears on the screen


PARTS OF COREL DRAW WINDOW

1.    Title Bar: Top bar, displays the title of the application and name of the currently open drawing. On right hand side contain maximize, minimize and close button.

2.    Menu Bar: Menu Bar is present below the title bar and contains a list of various functions available in a Corel Draw.

3.    Toolbar: It consists of various buttons which are the shortcuts of the command available on the menu bar.

4.    Property Bar: A bar that contains commands related to the active tool.

5.    Toolbox: A floating bar with tools for creating, modifying objects in the drawing.

6.    Ruler: Horizontal and vertical borders that are used to check the measurements of the page, size and position of drawing object etc.

7.    Page Icon: It allow you to move to previous and next page.

8.    Page Number: Display the current active page number

9.    Horizontal Scroll Bar

10.  Vertical Scroll Bar

11.  Color palette / bar: A dock able bar that contains color swatches.

12.  Color button: Clicking on it display more color options

13.  Fill: Display color selected to fill inside object

14.  Outline: Display the currently active outline option

15.  Status Bar: An area at the bottom of the application window that contains information about object properties such as type, size, color, fill and resolution. The status bar also shows the current mouse position.

16.  Drawing Window: The large blank portion of the screen that is outside the drawing page is called drawing window

17.  Drawing Page: The white colored rectangular area inside the drawing window is referred to as drawing page or printable page. You can only those object that are contained on the drawing page.
